Viveca Sten debuted in the spring of 2008 with the crime novel Still Waters. This was the prelude to the hit series Murders in Sandhamn, which takes place in Stockholm's archipelago.

In 2020, Viveca started her new series, The Åre murders, which has also become an incredible success story that topped the bestseller lists both in Sweden and abroad.

The book series have both become phenomenal sales successes, topping the bestseller lists time and time again. Viveca has sold more than 10 million books with publication in more than 40 countries: among others the Nordic countries, Germany, France, Japan, Holland, England and the USA.

The film adaptation of Åremorden premiered on the streaming platform Netflix on February 6, 2025 and immediately became a global success, topping the charts with millions of viewers around the world. After ounly four days of availability, the series was also at the top of Netflix's top list of the most watched non-English language series.

TV4's adaptation of Murders in Sandhamn starring Alexandra Rapaport, Jacob Cedergren, Nicolai Cleve Broch and Jonas Malmsjö has been shown worldwide with more than 100 million television viewers as a result.
